Strikes on March 27, 2023 across Germany: Impact on Airport Operations, Flights and Transportation
The Ver.di services union, the EVG rail and transport union in Germany have scheduled on Monday, March 27, 2023 a 24-hour strike that is expected to severely disrupt all forms of air, rail, and local public transportation in Germany. This involves subway trains, trams, long-distance trains, buses, airports, and the federal highway system that will all be impacted by the strike.
Scheduled flight operations will be suspended, and the strike will also have an impact on connecting flights out of Frankfurt. All air travelers planning to get to the airport are highly advised to check beforehand the status of their flights with the airline.
Longer-than-normal lines at check-in counters, security stations, and gates are to be expected as a result of the March 27th strikes. Passengers travelling with children, pets, or many pieces of luggage should plan ahead some extra time at the airport check-in areas.
